Ways to Use a Yoga Mat

If you either don’t want to or can’t get to the gym you can always manage a total workout using only your body and a yoga mat. There are many home exercises or routines you can do at home with just a yoga mat such as the dynamic and physically demanding Ashtanga yoga sequences, which are great for building core strength and toning the body. If preferred, you can use your mat for the more relaxed Kripalu style, which is based on meditation and breathwork. This style promotes an inward focus and aims for a gradual process of physical healing, psychological growth, and spiritual awakening.

Pilates – use a stability ball or only your body weight, with a yoga mat to target strength, flexibility, and cardio in one super-effective workout. The health benefits include better posture, stronger joints, and full-body conditioning.
